So as February gears up to move into March are those New Years Resolutions long since forgotten?
Remember it is never to late to pick them up and brush them off and try them again so maybe its time to reconsider your challenge.
Break down your New Years Resolution into smaller chunks that help to work towards your ultimate goal. Maybe you have said you are going to get up 1/2 hour earlier every day. Thats a big jump, but by setting your alarm just to 2 minutes earlier everyday within 2 weeks you will be up 1/2 hour earlier.
Get help and advice from as many different sources as possible. For example if you are trying to lose weight and struggling then look for advice from people who have successfully lost weight and importantly kept it off. Then tell friends and family what you are trying to do and ask them for help and support.
Setting new routines and creating new habits are very important in maintaining resolutions - getting into good habits is important, once the routine is established then following it is easy. So, if you are trying to exercise, it is totally worth while to go out for just a 10 minute run or do the first 15 minutes of that fitness DVD you bought, you are helping to set new habits that will hopefully be around for life.
Always congratulate yourself on your successes, giving yourself a reward for reaching a small or large goal will help to keep you motivated. Don't get angry when set backs happen (as they will) tell yourself there are 365 days of this year to work on your New Years Resolutions - so go on pick up that challenge again.
